Blacklight Chronicles: A Review of Love, Passion & Pain

BY DALLAS BIANCHI

For readers reluctant to read poetry because they ‘just don’t get it’, BLACKLIGHT CHRONICLES by Alysyn Bourque offers poems that will make you think, feel and think yet again.

A collection about relationships, love, lust, and a lesbian love affair, offers a spiritual and an otherworldly glimpse into the heart and soul of the poet.

Bourque has been described as a ‘contemporary classical poet’. She is a word-weaver, painting on paper with pen, rather than with a brush. She forces us into our own soul, whether gay or straight, and opens the door to her emotional vault where she pours her emotions and experiences before the world like a cool shower on a hot day.

Much of Bourque’s work is written about women. Her verse is an echo of the rapid train of love and lust running toward the final goal of a relationship that makes the reader wish and hope for the same. It is an up and down emotional ride as her love and pain, her hope and disappointments display The Challenge and risks of loving.

BLACKLIGHT CHRONICLES is endearing, allowing the reader to fall In Love with the most passionate of poets and lovers. Bourque is destined to become a literary voice heard for the ages.

Her book is due for release in March.
